Whether you’re planning to attend or simply following the season’s biggest moments, here’s everything you need to know about Detty December in Lagos.
What Is Detty December?
“Detty” is popular Nigerian slang for “dirty” — meaning to let loose and party without limits. Detty December has grown from a local festive period into a major cultural and economic phenomenon that attracts thousands of diaspora returnees and international visitors every year.
During this season, Lagos becomes a nonstop hub of concerts, beach parties, club nights, fashion events, and social gatherings. It is now one of the most important periods on the African music calendar.
Detty December Fest 2026: The Official Centrepiece
The highlight of the season is Detty December Fest 2026, organised by Livespot360. The festival runs from 18 to 30 December 2026 across key locations including Ilubirin and the Livespot Entertarium.
Key features of the 2026 edition include:
- 13 festival days of continuous programming
- Over 300 performers across multiple stages
- Dedicated zones for main concerts, food and shopping (Detty Boulevard), family experiences, Gen Z culture, and premium VIP/VVIP hospitality
- High-production performances expected from some of the biggest names in African music
Line-ups are typically announced closer to the event (often in October or November), so fans should follow official Detty December Fest channels for the latest updates.
Beyond the Main Festival
In addition to Detty December Fest, Lagos will host dozens of standalone concerts, beach parties, private events, and nightlife experiences throughout December. The combination of major artist performances and the city’s unmatched energy makes it the unofficial capital of African music during this period.
